Prelim Madness

Well, i suppose it wasn't as awful as i thought it would be. The good thing is that its over now and i won't have to worry about English for the time being. I'm over it now as there are five days until the next prelim. Lots of time for studying (+ Other) I'm realising that its getting quite late as i write this as i've spent the evening usefully by watching four episodes of 24 and being a total computer nerd (see pic below) It does make editing three times faster (If only...) But i enjoy it, which is all that matters. Saturday tomorrow, plenty more hours to waste and then regret wasting. Cheerus :)

Thor's Day

As expected, slept in till about 1:30 today, but when i did get up the weather was great. So, instead of studying away went out for a walk to the beach. As usual, took my camera too and got a video Tornado jet flying over, which i later found out was the one which crashed a few minutes after. After taking lots of pics (not often you get good weather here) came home and started 'trying' to study, even though you can't really study for English. Tonight, i thought i'd sent the video that a took to the BBC after i had seen the story online and got a call back asking if they could use it, pretty sure it won't be used but it did make for a much more entertaining evening. As for tomorrow, i'm pretty much stuffed, along with most of my class. Failure is predicted with a teacher like ours... Ch'rs

Wed-nes-day

I kinda... might have forgot to post yesterday, but if i had it would have just had the title 'FAIL' which (Without going into detail) pretty much sums up the day.
Anyway, first day of study leave tomorrow, definately making the most of not having to get up early. Hopefully get some studying in before English on Friday, basically our whole class somehow has to teach ourselves how to do higher English because our teacher is (for want of a better phrase) pretty awful. After English its a whole week till the other three, plenty time to look over the ridiculous pile of notes and textbooks that will hopefully help me pass some of them. Then, once its all over, i might take a little trip eastwards... not there. I also can't keep up this multiple photos a day thing, mostly because there's nothing to take photos of when i'm sitting at a desk trying not to get distracted by anything, but also because the Blogger photo uploader takes ages. So, i'll have to settle for one picture a day... at the most. CHuRS

Today's are the two most recent HDR photos i've done, the first is from the other day, and the other is from the other, other day in Harris.

Monday, Moanday.

I have been told that i must change the font on here so, it's now changed, happy? ANYWAY, got the Chemistry NAB over and done with, finally. It was difficult but, as always, i'm sure it could have been harder. Glad its over though, now for English on friday :< Also, i've realised that i'm coming up with so many video projects everyday that i can't make up my mind on which one i want to do, will probably end up starting all of them and  finishing none of them, ach well...

Took these pics yesterday, managed to get a good view just as the sun was going down then went down to a river and took some long exposure photos;

Satuurday :D

Alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes, Aldehydes, Alkanones, Alkanols, Alkanoic Acids. Who knew Chemistry doubled as alliteration revision? Yeah, revising for Chemistry once again, still worried that i'll fail this NAB miserably.
Just got back from a 'great' day on the 'beautiful' Isle of Harris, Lol jk, i like Harris. Went out for lunch to the IoHI and realised just how awesome the internet is, i can chat to my sister, who's in Peru, instantly while i'm sitting having lunch in a restaurant in the Hebrides, it really is amazing what you can do these days... Cheeursh

"Its only bleeey Friday!"

*Phew* well that was another eventful week of fun times, glad its over though, good to get a few days off to umm... study? Definately sleeping in tomorrow, but i actually want to go out if the weather is as good as it has been, apart from the obligatory Stornoway rain obv. Hopefully get out to take some photo/video. With nothing more to say, today's pics...

Busy Busy (+ Many Photos)

I should really be revising right now, but writing this is somehow more important because today i found out that there are actually people reading this, who'd have thought?! Anyway, this means i have to make it exciting. Darn.
Well last night i spent a while (longer than is healthy) playing about with lens (shown ->) and taking super macro pics (See below) But, today was just another school day, boring as usual, took some more photos to make it just a little more bearable (again, see below). Went to the County after school and had the most random string of conversations with peoples, most of whom will be reading this... yeah, was fun. This evening consisted of taking yet more macro pics and trawling through the incredible backlog of photos on my SD card, really fun right? ANYWAYS, enough talking, i have a Chemistry NAB on monday, which is probably going to be 'quite' hard, so i better get down to it so i don't end up showing how bad i am at studying a week before the prelim *shiver* ...CHEERS.        <Last night and today's pictures> :D (Click to Enlarge)

Stuff 'n' moar stuff...

Prelims, prelims and more prelims. Got the timetable today, as expected, English is
first. Its on Friday 28th, nine days from now (seems so close :/ ) So, from now on, revising for four higher subjects (without getting distracted) is going to be the aim. Granted, i probably should have started studying before now, but its fine, i have loaaads of time... kinda. CHEERS.

P.S: I can't take credit for the first picture, it was actually a quote from the teacher :l
The second is Daniel... Pretending he can read.

Same old...

Not much to report today, it was just as good weather today so got some nice phot's in the few minutes the sun was shining (see below). Heard that we should be getting our timetables for the prelims tomorrow, think i have a (much needed) break in the middle of study leave so hopefully i'll have a bit extra time to study for the 'harder' ones. In other news, YouTube officially doesn't like me. It wouldn't let me upload even though i tried at least 5 times :( So i've had to resort to Vimeo (http://vimeo.com/18884032) I just hope Y-Tube might be a bit nicer next time i try... Also, chemistry NAB on monday which i have to revise for *argh*, it'll be good practice for the prelim though... Thats about all for today, Cheeers.

Happy new week.

"Blue Monday: Statistically today is the year's most miserable day."
Well i can't say i agree, firstly, i managed to get to bed early last night so i wasn't so ridiculously tired going to school in the morning. Also, (apart from the odd rain shower) it was the first nice day of the year <See photos below> AND i was informed that the maths prelim is in march *Yuss* so i don't have to worry so much and can revise for the four other, equally as hard prelims :/ Also, the boiler is fixed so i don't have to spend so much time sitting by the fire pretending that i'll freeze if i go anywhere else. I suppose i should really be revising for these prelims which are in about... *1,3,5,8* 10 days! So yeah, i better get down to it some time soon or else i'll end up leaving it to the night before... literally. Right CHEERS.

*GEEK POST*

Didn't venture outside today, mainly because the boiler broke down *cold much* So, I thought i'd record a new video for YouTube (YouTube.com/PolM94)since I haven't done one since before Christmas. Hopefully the new videos will look a bit better as they're now (hopefully)  in HD, which happens to slow down the video making process somewhat, especially when your camera has a disagreement with your editing software... And when you have to upload to YouTube many times until it stops cancelling randomly (Grrr...)
It does take quite a while to get through all the complications from failing batteries and editing crashes, but i suppose its (kinda) worth it in the end and it gives me something to do...
In regards to editing, I used to use normal Movie Maker, but have recently been playing around with Live movie maker (not much difference) and it seems to be a little easier to work with, even if it is just a complete rip off of iMovie. ANYWAY, before i start rambling about an even more pointless subject, I better finish editing this nonsense. Right CHEERS.

*Yawn*

It's Saturday morning, well it's 1:00pm, and i've just got up, and i'm half happy that I started this because I realised that can ramble on about the most random of topics for as long as I want without having to make people listen. We'll see how it goes I suppose. Its kinda wet and windy today so i'll probably be staying indoors, though mum will probably want to go for a walk later as she always does. Its cloudy/rainy though which means there's little chance of getting good pictures, one of the only up sides to going for a long cold walk in Lewis. I can't wait for winter to end so i can get more pics like this ->

After all that...

...I didn't even post any photos!

Long post about pictures or something...

As promised, i haven't gone to bed, but chosen to create another random (and very long) post.
I realised that i should have put a picture or two in my last post, to make it more interesting (not that it wasn't obv)
Which lead me onto a topic of discusion which was going to come up sooner or later, Photography. Better to try and tackle this one when im in a sleepy/talkative mood. I will say that i consider myself above the average point and shoot 'casual snapper', but wouldn't call myself a fully flegded pro just yet. The thing that gets me is (<Rant indicator) people who take their camera and take a picture of some seaweed then go home, upload it online for people to say, "Wow, thats so creative and arty". Right... just looks like a picture... of some seaweed (Bad analogy, i know). See, i've always thought the 'secret' to good photos is just being in the right place at the right time. Especially for outdoor/landscape shots, which have become somewhat a favourite of mine recently, its best to wait until the light is right, even if it means freezing your toes off. Anyway i could go on for hours. Editing is another thing which is becoming popular. I've been asked about editing pictures a few times so here's my view. First off, (In my opinion) there are only two types of editing, one to enhance your image, and one to completely change whats in the picture, these can both be used effectively to produce amazing photos, but only if they are used right. My tip is, practice... a lot. Its better to do a few attempts with different lighting and colours so you can get the best possible compromise. I feel its apropriate to quote a classmate here (naming no names :P) " All you do is turn the contrast and saturation right up". Well, far from it, that happens to be one of the worse things to do actually. It all depends on the photo itself, getting the right balance of lighting effects for the situation. ANYWAY, i think thats enough of that rant, even though i'll probably end up doing another post on the exact same subject in the future. As i said, these are my opinions and they could well be terrible. Hopefully i'll give up and leave another post till tomorrow when i regret ever starting this... we'll see ;P  RIGHT cheers!

Why do I bother?

"Yes, I should totally create a blog, even though I have nothing interesting to talk about"

When writing this I am increasingly more aware that it is "Past my bedtime" (00:35am to be exact) which is probably the reason for me being here in the first place...

I see from other people blogs that the main format is that you're meant to sum up your day first, so here goes;
Went to school, boring as ever, went to the cinema to see Harry Potter again (amazing), certainly better the second time round, especially when someone shouts "Well done!" as Ron destroys the horcrux, and also some woman behind you cackles ridiculously at the least funny parts of the film, in turn making you (and everyone with you) laugh at her. Achh welll, all part of the fun. Tomorrow is Saturday, so that means plenty time to sleep and faff about the rest of the day, which will, inevitably happen as it does every week. Well, as exciting as this has been (me talking about nothing much in particular), I better be off to bed...

(Lol, jk, i'll probably start another post when I think of a subject to talk about...)

And finally, to quote some of the most intelligent minds the world has ever known,
Right Cheers.
